Dolores Schuett (nee Weiler)

Picture of DoloresDolores Margaret Schuett (nee Weiler), formerly of Mildmay, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Brucelea Haven in Walkerton on Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at the age of 87.

Beloved and cherished wife of the late Godfrey Schuett (2000), loving mother of Paul (Diane), Christine (Brian) Yahbee and Gregory (Josie) all of Mildmay.

Wonderful grandmother to Bethany (Joseph), Kimberley (Chris), Luke (Vicky), Paula, Darren, Rachel, Andrea and Matthew.

Survived by her sister Stella Cardow of Guelph and sister-in-law Dorothy Johnston of Walkerton.

Predeceased by her three brothers Harvey, Dicker and Skip, and three sisters Dorothy, Anne and Winnifred (in infancy). Dolores will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews from both the Weiler and Schuett families. Also, will be sadly missed by special family friend Mary Jane Schmalz.

Dolores worked at the Bank of Montreal in Mildmay for twelve years before her marriage to Godfrey. They did everything together, and were often seen walking around town arm in arm. They worked side by side in the furniture and funeral businesses in both Mount Forest and Mildmay for many years.

In 2003, Dolores moved to Maple Court Villa in Walkerton where she continued to enjoy playing cards with her friends and her sister Anne. Over the past year, she resided at Hanover Care Centre and Brucelea Haven, Walkerton. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at each of these homes.

In 2011, Dolores was presented with her 50 year pin as a C.W.L. member. She also sang in the church choir for many years.

Visitation will be held at the Greg Roberts’ Funeral Home, Mildmay on Monday, February 6th, 2012 from 2-4 pm. (Vigil Service at 3:45 pm.) and 7-9 pm. (Rosary at 8:45 pm.).

Funeral Mass will be conducted by Fr. W. T. Sehl at Sacred Heart Church, Mildmay on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mildmay.

Donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church (Mildmay) Building Fund or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Trudy Fowler (nee Schneider)

Picture of TrudyPassed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, at Walkerton Hospital at the age of 79. She was born in Mildmay on September 22, 1932, the second youngest of eight children. Trudy was a devoted caregiver to her sister Irene of Brucelea Haven, wonderful aunt to her nieces and nephews and very caring friend to so many, who will miss her greatly. Predeceased by her husband, Fred Fowler, her brothers, Lenny and Harold (Schnitz), and her sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Detzler, Dorothy Henhoffer, Lorraine Steinhoff and Marlene Schneider, she is survived by her beloved sister Irene Schneider. Trudy had a successful government career in Toronto before retiring to Mildmay. She was an avid Bridge player and gardener. She especially loved organizing parties in her garden to benefit the Friends of the Library of Mildmay. She was also a lifelong learner, earning her Bachelors Degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2001. Trudy was an advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves, especially the mentally handicapped. She was doer and acted to improve care and services for the handicapped. She volunteered as chair of the Family Council at Brucelea Haven. Trudy also received many honors for her generous support for the Bruce Grey Children’s Aid Society. Her family would especially like to thank the doctors and nurses of Walkerton Hospital and to her friends who came to visit her there. As an expression of sympathy, donations will be accepted at Grey Bruce Community Mental Health Corporation- Hanover team. Visitation will be on Friday, February 3 from 2-4 pm and from 7-9 pm at Greg Roberts Funeral Home, Mildmay. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 4 at 11 am at Sacred Heart Church, Mildmay.
